Mondays & Wednesdays - Interact Needs You!  Come join us for a chance to make a real difference while having fun! Interact is a service club and is sponsored by Pahrump Valley Rotary.  Meetings are Thursday room 233 at 2:15. See Mrs. Cunningham for more information.

Art Club meets on Monday after school until 3:15 in Room 127.  Any interested student is welcome whether they are in art class or not.

If you are female and interested in doing CyberStart this year please go by and see Mrs. Dabrowski in Room 127-This year Girls Go CyberStart will begin January 13th and will end April 24th so not like last year when it ended in June.  So again if you are interested see Mrs. Dabrowski.  THANK YOU

Help your community, join Key Club.  Meetings are every Tuesday from 2:30 to 3:15 in room 42.  Key Club is a community service organization that provides community service opportunities, leadership and a chance to meet new people.

 

ATTN: SENIORS The DEATH VALLEY ‘49ERS SCHOLARSHIP is now available.  This scholarship is for $4000 each year for four years.  To be eligible you must have lived in the Death Valley Unified School District for at least 2 years but may now be living outside of the district or have a parent who is employed in Death Valley National Park.  APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 31, 2020.  Application is available in counseling. 

 

The Dr. Sean Yim "Spirit of Achievement" Scholarship application is now available.  

This $1500 scholarship is for students planning a career in any health field. APPLICATION DEADLINE: MARCH 20, 2020.

 

ATTN:  SENIORS !!!  studentscholarships.org is an excellent website to visit on a regular basis for current information on scholarships you may be eligible for.  I have reviewed the following scholarships that you may find interesting.  Please note the deadline for each scholarship as they are not all the same.

 

SENIORS:  The Kathy Gailey “Make A Difference” scholarship application is now available.  The scholarship was established in memory of Kathy Gailey, a former counselor at Rosemary Clarke Middle School.  The application can be found in the “Scholarship” file cabinet in the counseling office.  DEADLINE:  MARCH 20, 2020.

 

SENIORS:  The Recorders Association of Nevada (RAN) scholarship application is now available in the counseling office.  This $500.00 scholarship is available to any student pursuing a 2 or 4 year degree. DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 15, 2020.

 

SENIORS:  If you are planning to major in wildlife management, biology, ecology or a similar field in college please see Mrs. Luck about a summer internship opportunity through the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

 

ATTN: SENIORS!!!  The Nevada Agricultural Foundation Scholarship application is now available.  This scholarship is available only to those students who document intent to follow an agricultural curriculum.  DEADLINE:  MARCH 15, 2020.

 

SENIORS!!!  If you are interested in pursuing a career in HVAC the EGIA Foundation has a $2500 scholarship available.  To learn more about this scholarship and to apply go to www.EGIAFoundation.org/Scholarship.  APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 30, 20Poetry Out Loud is a competition in which students recite poetry.  They must select from the year's selections, each of which is an approximately 25-line section of a famous poem.  Students learn to connect with poetry, improve their public speaking skills, and get the chance to travel.  Our first meeting will be Monday, Nov. 18, in Room 4.  Students can come before school, during first or second lunch, or after school.  This will be a chance to watch the video showing previous contestants, and talk about what the program is.  After that we'll be meeting Mondays after school. Anyone who is interested to attend the first meeting to get more information.  You should see some flyers going up around school.  Due to the fact that Beatty is not going to participate this year, one of our students will definitely go on to the state level competition, so someone from PVHS will get a free trip to Reno.

State competition - March 14, 202

National finals - April 27-29, 2020

SENIORS!!!  The 2020 STEPS FOR CHANGE SCHOLARSHIP application is now available.  This $2000 scholarship recognizes students from low income families with a commitment to lead and to make a positive impact on the community.  Application information is available in the counseling office.  DEADLINE:  APRIL 27, 2020.

 

ATTN: SENIORS!!  PAHRUMP VALLEY LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP application is now available in the counseling office.  APPLICATION DEADLINE: APRIL 30, 2020. 

 

ATTN: SENIORS!!!  ROTARY CLUB OF PAHRUMP VALLEY SCHOLARSHIP is now available.  The Rotary Club provides one academic and one vocational scholarship to a graduating Senior continuing his/her education at an accredited college or trade school.  Application DEADLINE: MARCH 15, 2020.  Applications are available in the counseling office.

 

Cyber Girls will meet in the Library after school with Mrs. Dabrowski next Tuesday and Friday after school

Win a Bear for a Buck!  Key Club will be selling raffle tickets in the cafeteria during lunch. Buy a ticket or two for your chance to win this giant pink bear on February 13th. Just in time for Valentines Day.

Xavier Sanchez is the PVHS candidate for the Poetry Out Loud recitation competition.  He will be reciting on Feb. 11 at 3 pm in the auditorium.  Please come by if you have time.
