Class of 2017 Important Senior Information

*Tuesday, May 2nd – 3-4:30pm Yearbook Signing Party-sign up in Mrs. K’s room by 4/25.

*Wednesday, May 3rd 7pm SENIOR AWARDS NIGHT – PVHS GYM

*Friday, May 12th - All Credit Recovery classes must be completed.

*Monday, May 15th-Thursday, May 18th - FINALS (See finals schedule)

*Thursday, May 25th7:30am MANDATORY Graduation Rehearsal- Football Field    (Attendance will be taken)

     Senior Brunch will be held after practice in the cafeteria. – A Blast from the Past with Great Food, Photo Booth, and much more! Great time to sign yearbooks and enjoy one of your last times together as a class. We will hand out Grad Tickets in the cafeteria after practice. Please have your check out sheet completed to receive tickets. We will have steamers set up if you would like to bring your gown to have it steamed for free!

*FRIDAY, May 26th -7:30am MANDATORY Graduation Rehearsal- Cafeteria (Attendance will be taken)

                                    6:30pm GRADUATION/PREP LINE UP - Cafeteria. (Don’t be late!)

Dress for Graduation is Semi-Formal - no decorations, garlands, etc. (Remember Bobby Pins for your hats!)DO NOT bring personal items (i.e. purses, yearbooks, etc.) as we do not have anywhere to store them during the ceremony!                        

                                   8pm GRADUATION – Football Field!

* PARTICIPATION IN GRADUATION CEREMONY

(NCSD Regulation 5670R) Students may participate in graduation exercises only if they have completed State of Nevada and Nye County School District graduation requirements and have demonstrated compliance with the District’s attendance policy.

*CHECK OUT SHEET – Attached to this packet

Graduates will need to have their check out sheet completed before tickets will be given to them for the ceremony. Some of the areas will not be filled out until the last 2 weeks of school, but it is best to make sure now that you do not have any fines with the library or kitchen that you are unaware of.

Completed check out sheets may be turned into Mrs. Shockley anytime

or turned in after Grad practice on May 26th to receive your tickets.

*PARKING

Please carpool whenever possible. You will receive a map and instructions with your seating tickets for spectator parking.

*SEATING

Due to the number of people attending graduation, please plan to arrive early. Each Graduate will receive between 4-6 field seating tickets (depending on number of graduates). If you are not going to use all your field seating tickets please share with others. There is plenty of General Admission seating in the bleachers also. The gates will open at 6:00 pm. We ask that everyone is seated by 7:45 pm so we may begin promptly at 8:00pm. Gate will close at 7:45pm until the Graduates have taken the field then be re-opened. Please be respectful and be on time. If any of your guest will be attending with a certified service animal please contact Mrs. Shockley at 775-727-7737 ext. 3032, so we may make seating arrangements for them for the safety of the service animal.

*DURING THE CEREMONY

No outside food or drink will be allowed. Water will be sold for $1.00 on the premises as a school fundraiser. Please remember there is no smoking allowed on school property (this also includes electronic cigarettes/vapors.) This is a formal event for our seniors; therefore, we are asking people to remain seated during the ceremony at all times. This includes young children. They are not allowed to run around on the field. If you are bringing small children please be sure they are able to sit for the entire ceremony. Be considerate of all in attendance by remaining seated and courteous throughout the ceremony. Professional pictures will be taken during the ceremony. Be considerate of all in attendance, remain seated throughout the entire ceremony. KPVM-TV (Channel 46) will be videoing the entire ceremony and will be taking orders at Graduation.

No balloons, signs, flowers, etc. If you bring these types of gifts, please leave them in your car until after the ceremony and present them in the reception area.

*FINAL TRANSCRIPTS

Please be aware that each senior will receive ONE copy of their FINAL transcript with their Diploma. You must submit a final transcript request for EACH additional transcript needed to Mrs. Shockley in the main Office in order for your final transcripts to be forwarded to your college of choice. We will not automatically send this out unless you request it.

*DIPLOMAS

Diplomas WILL NOT be handed out at the Graduation Ceremony. Students will need to return to PVHS starting Thursday, June 1st   through June 14th from 8am – 2pm daily. We will return July 24th to continue handouts if needed. Diplomas will be released to graduates only unless previously requested by Graduate for a family member to pick up.

*CAP AND GOWN RETURNS/DONATIONS

If you "borrowed" a cap and gown from the high school - you must return it when you pick up your diploma. If you purchased a cap and gown and would like to donate it back to PVHS for future use please do so when you pick up your diploma.                                                         Donated gowns have made it possible for many financially challenged graduates to walk.
