Dear Families,
The safety of our students is our highest priority. We are writing to provide accurate information regarding a safety report investigated by school and district leadership in coordination with the Sheriff’s Department.
Recently, a report was made through SafeVoice regarding a potential threat. We immediately partnered with the Nye County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada Office of Emergency Management to investigate. Experts have determined that this was a "swatting" attempt, a hoax designed to cause disruption, which has affected numerous schools in Nevada today with identical messages.
The situation is resolved, and our campus is safe for school to proceed normally. There will be an increased law enforcement presence on campus throughout the day to provide extra support and peace of mind for our students and staff.
We are grateful for the systems that allow for quick reporting and for the swift action of our local law enforcement.
Sincerely,
Desiree Veloz, Principal
Robert Williams, Communications Officer

Progress Reports Are Coming Home This Week!
We’re officially halfway through 3rd quarter which is a great time to check in on student progress. Families can also log into Infinite Campus anytime to view current grades. Please reach out to us if you have any concerns!

A moment of focus, responsibility, and pride making sure everyone knows what’s ahead before capturing where they are now.
One of those quiet milestones that marks how close the finish line really is.

Today looked a little different at PVHS.
Hail. Snow. Wet shoes and cold hands.
Not something we see often here in the desert.
But the campus felt different too.
Quieter in some ways, lighter in others. There was a genuine energy in the building today, the kind only nature seems to create. You could feel it from both students and staff.
It is a reminder that change is a part of life. Seasons come and go. Nothing stays the same and sometimes that shift brings perspective, gratitude, and a pause we didn’t know we needed.
We are thankful for today, and for the moments that remind us we are all moving through seasons together.

A quick reminder for our PVHS family…tomorrow, December 19, is a half day for students with an 11:08 AM release.
Please remember: no backpacks, and sack lunches will be provided.
We hope everyone enjoys a safe and relaxing winter break!

Hallways, chairs in a circle, and scripts everywhere.
PVHS theater students are reading through their next play this week as they prepare for Regionals in January and a spring performance here on campus.
This is where it all starts!

Santa was spotted at PVHS… and yes, he had business to discuss.
He stopped by Principal Veloz’s office to review the Nice List and get a little backup from our talented students in Mr. Nelson’s Woodshop class, who are busy building toys for children in the community.
It’s our very own Santa’s PVHS workshop!
From the looks of it, we are sitting pretty high on that list, but Santa did mention he will be keeping an eye on us through next week!

Our office Christmas tree is bright, the front-door mural is filled with color, and our campus has that familiar mix of excitement and generosity that always shows up this time of year.
Next week is Spirit Week, and we’ll wrap up the semester with a half day for students on Friday, December 19.
You can feel that everyone is working hard to get to the finish line… students, staff, and families.
Some people are energized by Christmas. They glow.
And others carry it a little heavier. Sometimes the holidays are wrapped in loss, struggle, or uncertainty.
This season reminds us to slow down a bit, show kindness wherever we can, and notice the good happening around us.

Next week is Sadie’s in the Snow!
We will be having spirit week followed by the Sadie Hawkins Dance on Friday, December 12th at 6:00 pm.

Winter finally settled into Pahrump this week. The temperature dropped below 40°, and it’s one of those moments where this desert surprises you. You feel the cold in the air, and then you look out the PVHS windows and see palm trees standing tall like nothing has changed.
It’s a reminder that even in the desert, seasons shift quietly. The light changes, the mornings get a little slower, and the air asks us to breathe a little deeper.
To our Trojan families…stay warm, take care of yourselves, and let this season be a small reminder that change can be gentle, too.

PVHS Home & Hallways Spotlights!
This series highlights staff members who also have students at PVHS.
This Week: McKenna & Mrs. Cunningham!
McKenna is a senior at PVHS and dances on the PVHS Dance Team. Her mom is the SPED Facilitator and also coaches the Varsity Dance Team.
Being on the same campus gives Mrs. Cunningham the chance to see McKenna’s adventures unfold in real time from dance practices to the occasional lunch date. It’s a special connection that makes their PVHS experience even more meaningful.

In Mr. Baker’s World History class, students are diving deep into Machiavellian thought; analyzing what it means to lead with power and strategy.
To make it relevant, they connected Machiavelli’s ideas from The Prince to Tupac’s song “Hail Mary,” exploring how modern music can echo centuries-old debates about leadership through fear.
Real-world thinking, powerful discussion, and critical connections in action at PVHS!

PVHS Home & Hallways Spotlights!
This series highlights staff members who also have students at PVHS, families who experience the school from both sides, at work and at home.
This Week: The Corbett Family🎉
Mrs. Corbett is a secretary in our SPED department and Mr. Corbett is one of our counselors. Their son is a freshman at PVHS!
For the Corbetts, PVHS is not just a workplace or a school, it is a community they are all part of. Families like theirs help make PVHS the place it is for students every day.
