Greetings Trojan Families,
At this time, we have received notification that the Air Quality Index (AQI) for the Pahrump Area is purple, which is considered "Very Unhealthy" and the Amargosa/Beatty area is red, which is considered "Unhealthy".
At this time, we have canceled all outdoor PE, athletic and other events. We are limiting outdoor activities to only what is required or necessary for the school to function. This decision is for the health safety of students and staff.
Below is a guide for AQI. If you have any questions, please reach out.
Bussing Note for this afternoon, 9/10/2024
The roads around the Bursen Ranch area are being reslurried, so our busses cannot get the normal stop in the area. While the streets are being reslurried, these are the stop changes:
RCMS/PVHS -Route 19 - Mickey & Squaw stop is moved to Manse and Squaw
Floyd - Route 21 - Mickey & Squaw stop is moved to Manse and Squaw
Everyone,
The Transportation Department is beginning to roll out the new bus tracking system, StopFinder. It isn't fully operational yet, but emails did go out to all primany student contacts as listed in Infinite Campus for creating accounts.
Thank you.
Parents, Guardians, and Community members,
A bus was in an accident in Pahrump on 160 near the Pour House. No students were on board. An alternate bus was sent to cover the route. We do not expect any alterations to bus drop off times. The driver was not injured.
Please be aware that bus morning pick-up times are changing by 15 minutes.
The morning stop times for all GenEd (Regular) buses for PVHS and all Pahrump Elementary Schools will be adjusted to 15 minutes later than originally published. This does NOT include RCMS. Please check the district website link "Where's my bus stop?" for updated times. (https://bit.ly/ncsdstopfinder)

The editor, Mrs. Amy Veloz, has done a nice job highlighting many of our leaders and athletics.

Final Update Regarding the Lockdown at PVHS
Students were overheard during first lunch organizing a fight, and a gun was mentioned. Another student reported the discussion to staff.
The school was locked down about 11:15 under the guidance of the NCSO.
All involved students were found and searched. No fight took place, no weapons were found, and no students were injured. The lockdown was lifted about 1:30 and those students who had not eaten were allowed to go to lunch. All students were given a five minute bathroom break.
------------
Please watch for an article on our website regarding how we will change our communication procedure based on lessons from this event.
PVHS is lifting the lockdown at this time.
The students who did not go to lunch will go now. Everyone else will remain in their 5th period class. All students will have a 5 minute break to use the restroom.
Apologies for the confusion.
The PVHS situation is under control and the NCSO is consulting with the school administration to lift the lockdown, but it is still in place.
Please do not come to the school at this time.
PVHS has implemented a LOCKDOWN emergency procedure because of a student disturbance. The disturbance is contained. The lockdown has been implemented to facilitate the investigation. All students are safe.
During practice drills, your student learned this means classroom instruction will stop and staff and students are ready for response. No building entrance is allowed except for response personnel. All perimeter and classroom doors are locked and there is no hallway traffic. Please monitor the Nye County School District Website or Facebook page for additional information as it becomes available.
