Happy Teacher Appreciation Week

 

Peer Mentorship

Peer Mentorship is a 1 year class by application and approval.  Students will work with underclassmen and incoming freshmen to develop and support a positive school climate and academic success. As mentors learn about what it mean to be a role-model, they will strengthen their own self-confidence, speaking ability, and inter-personal skills that are important to success in life.   Mentors will help create a safe, caring learning environment where diversity is respected and celebrated.

Key Club meets every Tues in room 234 at 2 15. Key Club is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Pahrump and is based on helping our community

 

Thursdays

Interact Meets Thursdays at 2:15 in room 233. Come join us for a chance to make a real difference while having fun! Interact is a service club and is sponsored by Pahrump Valley Rotary. Meetings are Thursday room 233 at 2:15. See Mrs. Cunningham for more information.

 

Faithful Youth Ministry (FYM) meets Thursdays at lunch in room 9.

 

Yearbook

April 1st is the deadline to pre-purchase yearbooks online at Jostens.com.  The deadline to purchase in school is Thursday, March 29th. The cost is $80.  If you purchase in school with Mrs. K or Mrs. Villa, make sure you bring $80 in cash or money order and provide your grade and advisory teacher. 

 

The GEAR UP office would like to invite all 11th and 12th grade students to visit the College and Career Corner located in the GEAR UP office. We have tables filled with valuable college, scholarship and career pamphlets and books!

 

SENIORS!!  As new scholarship information arrives it's added to the "Scholarship Drawer" in counseling.  Please check periodically for additions.  You can now access this information on the school's home page by clicking on the "Scholarship Button" on the right side of the page. 

 

SENIORS:  If your parent has been employed full time for at least 4 years in a school setting please check the "Scholarship Drawer" in the counseling office for the "Educator's Legacy Scholarship".

 

SENIORS!!! Information about two new scholarships has been added to the scholarship bulletin and the scholarship drawer. The Ron and Charlotte Floyd Scholarship and the Bruce Floyd Scholarship.  Be sure to check them out.

 

SENIORS:  Kiwanis Club of Pahrump Valley has four $1,000.00 scholarships to be awarded to qualified high school Seniors.  Please click the Scholarship button on the PVHS home page for further information and check the scholarship drawer in the counseling office for the application.

 

ATTN: SENIORS!!  Information regarding 3 new scholarships has been added to the scholarship bulletin.  Be sure to check out the Nevada Telecommunications Scholarship, Kathy Gailey Scholarship, and the Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship.  Also please note the deadlines for each!

 

Anyone who has an ACT book please turn them in as soon as possible.

Change is given out in the morning before school at lunch and after school in the library.

 

SENIORS:  The Nevada Association of Conservation Districts 2018 scholarship is now available for application. 

Stop by the counseling office for more information and an application.  DEADLINE: May 11, 2018.

 

 

Tues-Wed-Thurs

After school tutoring will be provided by GEAR UP for ALL students on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in the library from 2:30 - 3:30. Tutoring will cover all subjects and there is no need to sign-up in advance just come to the library after school on these days and sign-in when you arrive.

 

SENIORS:  The HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION CAREER & TECHNICAL SCHOLARSHIP

application is now available online.  This scholarship will provide up to $2500.00 for a qualified

student who is pursuing career or technical education.  DEADLINE: June 15, 2018.

Sign Language Club Meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:15 to 3:00 in room 232. Come join us for a chance to make a real difference while having fun! We plan to meet outside to the school environment once every 6 weeks to put skills learned into practice. See Mrs. Emond for more information.

 

Attention 11th Grade Students: There will be an all-expenses paid Valley Electric Youth Camp in Utah July 9 - 13, 2018. Two Pahrump Valley High School 11th grade students will be selected to participate in this program. If you are interested in participating please see Ms. Oikawa in the guidance center. Mrs. Dabrowski’s students have A Cultural Mask Exhibit displayed at the Pahrump Public Library for Youth Art Month until the end of April plus a 2-D rotating display.   The library’s address is 701 E. Street in Pahrump. The Library is open Monday through Thursday 9 AM-6 PM and Friday/Saturday 10 AM-5 PM.  Please stop by and view the student's art. 

SENIORS:  please see Mrs. Luck in the counseling department if you are interested in applying for an apprenticeship program with the Elevator Industry Educational Program.  APPLICATION DEADLINE: June 10, 2018.

 

Chess and Art Club will have their final meeting of the year next Monday, May 7 so that you may study for finals.  All members who come may bring a food item to share.  Drinks will be provided.

 

Aloha!  The Aloha Dance will be May 11 from 7-10 PM.  Dance Tickets will be on sale in Mrs. Dabrowski's room before school and 2nd lunch this week and in the Cafeteria all lunches next week.  Cost is $5 each.

Also Art Club will be selling Aloha hair accessories for $1.00 at the same times.  THANK YOU

 

Students in Spanish I that are planning to go on to Spanish II and need some additional support, we are offering a free online class this summer via Pathways.  Anyone interested in more information or signing up, please contact Mr. Fannin cfannin@nye.k12.nv.us

 

Students interested in joining the tennis team for 2018 – 2019 school year should meet with Mr. Lyke in room #1 on Monday May 7th at 2:15 pm.

 

Attention students and parents- all Q4 make up work is due Wednesday, May 9th.  It will be our last Power Hour of the year.
