Pahrump Valley High School senior Grant Odegard received a Top Ten Student-Athlete of the Year award for the 2019-2020 school year along with nine other athletes throughout Southern Nevada. These awards are presented to the top student-athletes who excel in scholastic achievement, overall sports participation and school and community service accomplishments.
PVHS teacher Steve Nygaard provided the following quote to the NIAA, “Grant has the drive, leadership skills and academic ability to succeed in any endeavor he chooses. He illustrates what it truly means to be a student-athlete.”
Grant has participated at the Varsity level in Cross Country, Basketball and Track and Field, earning 11 varsity letters during his high school years as an athlete. He plans to attend college before pursuing a career as a commercial pilot.
A $1000 scholarship from Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) and One Nevada Credit Union has been awarded to Grant. He will be presented with his scholarship and special commemorative program later this month.

Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
We know you have been asked to fill out several surveys recently, but we would appreciate your attention to one more.
This survey is meant to provide the grants department with guidance and data while writing for 20/21 grants, which will be critical for our operations in what is likely to be a challenging budget year.
The survey contains 20 topics and asks you to rate each topic's importance to you and your satisfaction with district implementation. A blank response will be counted as not-applicable for you, so you are welcome to leave items blank.
Please click here to take the survey: https://bit.ly/NyeGrantSurvey2020

Parent Engagement Survey: https://bit.ly/2AF7u7N
Parents & Guardians,
This is the same survey that we sent out at the beginning of the year on paper through the schools. Obviously, it was not possible to do the survey the same way at the end of the year.
Our grants require that we issue this survey twice per year to get comparative data.
Please take a few minutes to fill out the six questions.
Thank you,
-NCSD Grants & Family Engagement Dept.

Good afternoon Trojan Senior Families,
I want to give a few more details for our senior grad events for the class of 2020. Please realize our commitment to social distancing protocols during the COVID-19 Pandemic. This event will give grads the option of coming to the school for a photo opportunity to capture them walking across the graduation stage in their cap & gown with the school’s stadium in the background. We are planning 3 sessions: May 27 from 5 to 9 pm; May 28 from 8 am to 12 pm; May 28 6-8 pm.
Graduating seniors will be allowed through only once and can choose the time and date most convenient for them. Each grad will be limited to one vehicle. Only the grad and their parents or guardian will be allowed outside of their vehicle when directed to by a school staff member when they reach the stage. The gate will close a half hour prior to closing on each day to allow use to get all participants through on time.
Please recall, we will have our virtual graduation broadcast on May 29 at 8:00 PM on Channel 25. Full details and a map will be posted on our website and on our Trojan Facebook page.
Mr. Campnell, PVHS Principal
