Alert: A power outage is affecting the district office in Pahrump. Because out this, no schools have internet, and most phone systems are affected.
The schools have power, so instruction continues, and the school schedules are proceeding normally.
Because of the AT&T outage, many of our employees cannot use Dojo to communicate to families, so please be patient.

We have an internet outage for all of Pahrump and Amargosa. We are working with VEA and NSHE to solve the problem.
This also affects our phones systems. At this time, schools cannot receive calls or call out using the school phones.
Teaching and learning is still happening. There are no emergencies.
We just wanted you to know why no one is answering any phones.

The STAY-PUT emergency procedure at PVHS has been lifted.
The procedure was implemented because of a situation in the parking lot that required NCSO assistance. PVHS wanted to keep students from the area until the situation was contained.

PVHS has implemented a STAY PUT emergency procedure. During practice drills, your student learned this means any outside activities are moved inside and no students or staff are allowed outside the building. All exterior doors are locked. No one is allowed to enter the building except for response personnel. Classroom instruction continues with limited hallway traffic. Please monitor the Nye County School District Website or Facebook page for additional information as it becomes available.

Due to the Declaration of Local Emergency of the Nye County Board of Commissioners and the recommendation to shelter in place, the Nye County School District will be closing schools tomorrow, Monday, August 21, 2023. This decision was made out of extreme caution for the safety of all Nye County School District students and staff.
We are in communication with the Director of Emergency Management for Nye County, Chief Scott Lewis. We will continue to send updates if the situation changes through all school websites and Facebook: https://www.nye.k12.nv.us/live-feed.
Currently our plan is for schools to return to normal schedules on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. If this changes, we will send another emergency update through all channels: phone message, email, text, all websites, and Facebook pages.
Please stay home and be safe.
Documents regarding the weather and the emergency declaration can be seen here: https://www.nye.k12.nv.us/documents/announcements-%26-press-releases/2023-2024-announcements%2C-prs-%26-memos/2023-08-21---county-emergency-declaration/506111.

- No student or staff outside the building
- No one can enter the building except response personnel
- Classroom instruction continues with limited hallway traffic
- Attendance is taken normally

NCSO and NCSD are aware of the social media posts threatening violence at schools tomorrow, May 10, 2023. A thorough investigation was conducted and it was determined that the threatening post originated outside of Nevada and was directed at a school in Clark County. NCSO has determined there is no credible threat to any NCSD schools. Out of an abundance of caution, patrols will be increased so there is a more visible NCSO presence around our schools.

The Nye County Sheriffs Office received information regarding an unsubstantiated threat across multiple Nevada school districts today. Due to this, all schools are implementing "Stay-Put" procedures, limiting movement around and within campus. If students are required to be outside for transitioning between classes, they will be accompanied by an employee.
Sheriff McGill also has deputies driving by, visiting, and monitoring campuses for safety through dismissal time.
Schools will follow normal dismissal times and procedures.

PVHS Senior Parents please let your seniors know about this important event coming up. Especially those that do not attend school regularly due to college courses. I will also be announcing this at school daily.
On February 16th (Thursday), during 3rd period (9:36am-10:57am) we will be taking the Class of 2023 group picture on the football field. We are hoping all graduating seniors will be in attendance for this. We will excuse the seniors on campus after 3rd period attendance has been taken as for seniors that are not on campus please let them know to report to the football field by 9:45am. This will take approximately an hour or so. This is a fun event for our seniors and we do not want any of them to miss it!
The senior class leadership is asking seniors to wear maroon and gold to show their Trojan Pride for this picture (not required). See years past pictures below. This is the same type of picture we will be doing on Thursday, 2/16.
